MOUNT CLEMENS, MI — A Warren mother is alleged to have murdered her own two-week-old girl.
Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith and the Warren Police Department today charged Charliette Agnes Stalling, 25, with one count of Felony Murder and one count of First Degree Child Abuse. Both charges are felonies punishable by imprisonment up to life.
On October 3, 2013, Warren firefighters responded to a 911 call directing them to Stalling’s neighbor’s house. Upon arrival, they immediately performed CPR lifesaving maneuvers on the victim, Jamiah Stalling. Jamiah had been born September 19, 2013.
Firefighters transported Jamiah to St. John’s Hospital, where the infant was pronounced dead on October 4.
In an autopsy performed October 6, Macomb County Medical Examiner Dr. Daniel Spitz ruled it a homicide, cause of death: blunt force head trauma.
“We are shocked and heartbroken by the taking of this little girl’s life,” said Prosecutor Smith. “Nothing will bring her back. But we will work to bring justice for little Jamiah.”
Charliette Stalling will be arraigned at 37th District Court, Warren.
