MOUNT CLEMENS, MICHIGAN—Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith was honored to receive the Department of Defense Patriot Award this morning.
A small ceremony was held in the Prosecutor’s office; National Guard Employment Support Contractor Michael Peplinski presented the Patriot Award to Prosecutor Smith for his outstanding support of an employee actively serving in the Naval Reserves. Even more unique to this award is the fact that Prosecutor Smith was nominated by a member of his staff, Kristin Rivard.
Kristin has been an active member of the Naval Reserves for the past 8 years; deploying to Afghanistan in 2013-2014. Her commitment to our county deserves our utmost appreciation and respect.
“Kristin is an outstanding employee,” said Prosecutor Smith. “Her exceptional military experience and enhanced skill-set have made her an invaluable asset to our office.”
Our Nation has relied heavily on Guard and Reserve Service members since entering continuous military operations more than a decade ago. According to the Department of Defense, employer support enhances retention rates in the Armed Forces and, in the end, strengthens our national security.
“Just to be nominated for this award is incredibly humbling,” he said. “I have a deep respect for our military servicemen and women, and relish the opportunity to offer my support through employment.”
