Child Murderer Dimambro Guilty on All Counts
MOUNT CLEMENS, MI — Ronald Anthony DiMambro Jr. was found guilty this afternoon of First Degree Felony Murder and First Degree Child Abuse in the death of two-year-old Damian Sutton.
The murder count carries a sentence of mandatory life imprisonment without parole. The child abuse count is punishable by a sentence up to and including life imprisonment.
DiMambro, 27, of Washington Township, was babysitting Damian on August 21, 2013 when he subjected the two-year-old’s skull to blunt force trauma. The child was rushed to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and later to Children’s Hospital where doctors worked without success to save his life. Damian died from the injuries a week later.
Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Smith was the lead courtroom prosecutor on the case.
“Nothing will bring little Damian back to us,” he said. “The death of this little boy shocks our community. The loss of this tender young life strikes each of us at the heart.
“Justice spoke for Damian Sutton today. We hope that this verdict helps bring some measure of solace to his mother and his relatives.”
DiMambro will be sentenced to life without parole on July 17, 2014 in the courtroom of Judge Jennifer Faunce at 8:30 a.m.
